Introduction
The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Moveable Senior Center (MSC) is a partnership among Senior Centers in the Greater Hartford area. Adult members of the LGBT community and community Allies are invited to join. The purpose of the LGBT MSC is to connect the LGBT community to mind-body-spirit, to each other and to services and supports for healthy aging. There are no age or town residency participation requirements or fees to participate in the LGBT MSC. (For non-MSC events, Center participation requirements apply.)
The LGBT Moveable Senior Center is sponsored by Connecticut Community Care, Inc. as part of “Getting it Right: Creating an LGBT-Responsive Organization,” a project funded by the John H. and Ethel G. Noble Charitable Trust and was guided by CT LGBT Aging Advocacy.
2017 is the third year of operation for the LGBT MSC. Eleven Greater Hartford Area Senior Centers have participated in programming. Each Center has attended training on becoming an LGBT-welcoming and inclusive organization. These eleven Centers have been provided with a decal of the MSC logo (shown below) indicating their participation in the program.
